Owners' Cars

(Chassis 2) Now owned by Chris Price, having been for sale with Hallmark Cars for some months. It's a particularly interesting car, being the original prototype car I drove at the factory. As such, it has all the original features, dropped from car number three onwards (different grille, bonnet, aluminium side panels and, originaly, Vauxhall wing mirrors. That does mean it lacks one or two of the nice styling touches seen on production models, but it was always a great car. You'll find pictures of it in its original metallic burgandy colour in my main gallery, but it's obviously been resprayed silver at some stage in its life. It runs a 2-litre Turbo engine. Chris hopes to do a few hillclimbs in the car.

(Chassis 4) This car is owned by Rob Chisnall, who bought the car from original builder, Chris Dobbs. It's a very early Cyclone, thus featuring the squared front wheelarches and slightly different wing mirrors to later cars. It was originally built as a hillclimb car, with a Vauxhall 2-litre twin-cam running twin Del-Orto carbs. Rob tells me his partner bought him the car as a present... lucky chap.

(Chassis 6) This was my first Cyclone, which was built for me by the factory in around 1996. It's powered by a 2-litre Calibra Turbo engine. The car is now on its fourth owner. If they'd like to make contact, I'll update this section accordingly.

(Chassis 8) This is Stan Paice's car, who runs the Cyclone Register (see links page). Stan built this car in 1997 over a ten month period with the help of his son, Philip. The car was displayed on Car Craft's stand at the 1998 Stoneleigh kit car show. It's powered by a 1-8-litre 8-valve Opel Ascona engine (running the standard injection but with the original fuel pressure regulator upgraded to a Weber adjustable type which has improved pickup). The gearbox is an F16 unit.

The colour is Renault Sunflower. Wheels are TSW Blades. The strange gearknob you can see in the pic is made from an Australian Banksia Nut! The original silencer (made with two MGB boxes) has been replaced with a stainless steel one made by Torque Technique of Salisbury, Wilts. I used the same company on my second Cyclone, with is currently in the For Sale section of this site. The front brakes (originally from an Opel Manta) have been replaced with Hi-Spec discs and calipers, and the rears are also in the process of being upgraded to Hi-Spec units, including a handbrake facility.
